2008 Community Back to School Bash

Tonight from 6 to 9pm Central Montcalm Community Church supplied hundreds of children from more than 4 counties backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, clothes and a hotdog in our second annual Back to School Bash. From what we can determine the eight beauticians gave 117 haircuts in 3 hours! We served 396 children, gave away over 500 hotdogs, 321 backpacks and served over 154 familes. With over 75 volunteers helping we were able to handle the amazing surge of people that flooded our church facility. People began lining up an hour and a half before the outreach began with the line literally stretching outside the back doors of the church, wrapping around the entire building and reaching almost to the front doors. On more than one occasion we witnessed tears in a mom and dads eyes as they thanked the volunteers for helping them provide their children with much needed items. What a blessing to help people and to share the love of Jesus in such a tangible way. It is a privilege and an honor to serve Christ in such a huge way. I am so proud of those in our church and those from the community that rallied around the belief that we could all make a difference. Thank you for all your help.

Pastor Wayne,

I love the blog. And, being a part of the back-to-school event last night was an incredible experience for me! Not only were there tears in parents' eyes, but in our eyes as well, as we were touched by those we served. I was sooooo blessed by the whole experience. Thank you for your leadership and for the opportunity to serve God's Kingdom in such a mighty way!

What an incredible evening it was! Chad and I couldn't get to sleep that night because we were still in shock and awe over the numbers of both community members who showed up needing supplies and those who came to serve. What a practical way to truly help those in need in one of many hurting communities. It was amazing to see so many people being the hands and feet of Jesus, showing His love to our neighbors.
